My Personal Story

“For the past two decades, my passion as a financial planner has been helping successful families make informed financial decisions and better coordinate their financial lives.”

College Years
I spent my first two years at Davidson College on the pre-med track until a semester of inorganic chemistry that I hated coupled with history and accounting classes I loved caused me to rethink life choices. I ended up with a BA in History, learning the art of absorbing lots of information and synthesizing it into cogent summaries. As an NCAA Division I college golfer, I was honored as an Academic All American my senior year and ranked 3rd nationally in driving accuracy which simply reflected an enduring work ethic more than any God-given ability.
Stock Analyst
The two golfers ahead of me both went on to PGA Tour careers. I chose the less glamorous career of finance. I initially worked as a stock analyst for two large mutual fund companies and completed the Chartered Financial Analyst® (CFA) designation. As I gained experience, my research role became more focused on a handful of individual stocks or bonds. I analyzed every line item on corporate financial statements, spoke with suppliers, merchants, and executives.
